Senior Chemical Process Engineer

Role Profile

The opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Process Engineer, to join a well-established Medical Device Company in Livingston. Our client is a leading manufacturer of injectables used in ophthalmic & orthopaedic medical procedures. The company holds itself to the highest standards of integrity, quality and excellence.

The company has recently experienced a period of growth and is positioning itself for further growth in key markets. The company requires a talented, dynamic, and self-motivated individual to contribute to the existing Engineering team.

Key aspects of the role

  • Optimise existing production processes by analysing data, compiling debottleneck studies, and driving improvements through to completion
  • Troubleshoot complex technical/chemical process challenges
  • Responsible for the design, installation, and commission of new production processes/equipment with the view to optimise yield and efficiency
  • Contribute to root cause analysis, and change/improvement proposals
  • Set up scale-up and scale-down processes, including updates to process FMEAs and changes to equipment design and configuration, as required
  • Author, review and approve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and technical documents
  • Subject matter/process expert
  • Compliance to ISO 13485


Applicant requirements

  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience in an equivalent role, ideally within a pharmaceutical or medical device bioprocess environment.
  • Strong communication across all levels of the organisation with the ability to influence others
  • MEng/BEng in Chemical Engineering, or equivalent in a closely related discipline

Desirable but not essential

  • IChemE
  • Lean Six Sigma Green/Black belt certified
