Senior Application Scientist
My client is a Scottish technology centred life sciences business with a customer base across the developed markets of the world. The business has embarked on a period of significant growth and has a reputation for developing industry-leading technology and applications for an international customer base.
The company are looking for a Senior Application Scientist to support activities in its contract laboratory services division. The business offers a range of applications from assay development to screening services to complement their established range of cutting-edge instrumentation.
The Senior Application Scientist will provide technical assistance and take a leading part in driving projects from inception through to delivery. Projects may vary in their remit and will include proof of concept testing, assay development/transfer or product manufacturing. The role is largely laboratory based and involves all technical aspects of services and the day to day running of the laboratory area.
As well as a strong focus on delivery of key projects, the role is also to provide support to the Lab Manager and take on additional responsibilities for specific areas of the lab activities including project planning, instrument/resource management, instrument QC and customer queries. The position will also provide supervision/training to application scientists and may take on some line management responsibilities.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree(HND/HNC/BSc) in life sciences, biotechnology or related field plus postgraduate degree or several years’ (e.g. 5+) experience in laboratory environment
- Excellent communication skills
- Assay development and experience leading projects.
- Attention to detail and high accuracy
- Protocol and report writing
- Good housekeeping and organisation
- Excel and statistical analysis
- Experience in experimental design, development and optimisation and scientific data analysis.
The position will be part of a dynamic team working closely with an international customer base across a diverse range of applications. The successful candidate will also provide technical support to enable our research and product development departments to further develop solutions.
