Optical Engineer
Our client is a unique, high-profile business operating in the Medical Device market designing, developing and manufacturing products that offer early identification of health issues in patients. The products are beautifully designed and are highly regarded for their performance and functionality.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Engineer to join a Product Engineering team as an Optical NPI Engineer working in the Operations department of a company who are the world leaders in their field.
This role will be part of a multi-disciplinary manufacturing team developing manufacturable optical systems for medical device products.
Responsibilities involve:
·Contribution to continuous improvement for module and system development.
·Develop optical test methods for optical systems and sub-assemblies.
·Support product and technology roadmap with regards to emerging technologies for performance improvements and cost reduction.
·Communicate operational work-flow of optical systems to manufacturing staff.
·Support manufacture with RCCA for optical components and assemblies. This includes OCT and laser scanning modules.
·Support cross functional New Product Introduction team, liaising with product development, transferring design, test and knowledge to manufacture.
·Managing engineering change improvements through to implementation.
Skills:
·Educated to degree level in Optics, Optoelectronics or Physics with optics or equivalent education gained through work experiences.
·Knowledge of optical test methods.
·Understanding of fundamental optical principles, geometrical optics, polarisation, interference & diffraction, Gaussian propagation and lasers.
·Experience in a manufacture environment is beneficial but not essential.
